Builder's Day was first celebrated in the USSR in 1956. On September 6, 1955, the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR "On the Establishment of the Annual Holiday of the Builder's Day" was issued. After the collapse of the USSR, this tradition was lost in some post-Soviet republics. Only Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan and Ukraine continue to celebrate Builder's Day on the same day.
